"People will understand Gallaxy's kind of music with time"

Gallaxy's publicist, Jonilar has reacted to call by some music lovers who think the group is doing Nigerian music.

But in response, Jonilar who also works with Harbour City Recordz as a publicist says Gallaxy is not doing Nigerian music but 'Afrobeat' and since the genre is not popular here in Ghana, it will take some time for music lovers to accept what the group is introducing.

According to him Afrobeats is a Ghanaian genre but made popular by Nigeria’s Fela Kuti some years ago.

"You can't have a complete Afrobeat without fusing other languages and instruments from other part of Africa in your rhythm. Gallaxy sings dominantly in Twi, Ewe and the Pidgin English doesn't make it Nigerian either," he explains.

The group was heavily criticized when they released "Boko Boko" two years ago.

Gallaxy was nominated for "Best Group of the Year" at this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and hopeful of winning the category against Keche, VVIP and Preachers.
