Video director exposes musicians

According to the video director, not only do some musicians pay less for music videos but come to his studios with public transport.

“…others will always ask for a discount even though in their songs they talk about they having big cars, money and other stuffs and then they come to my office with trotro and ask me to come pick him up. Not all of them are like that but it happens,” he said on Pluzz FM’s AM Pluzz on Monday.

Pascal however eulogised Sarkodie for being one of the topmost artistes who pays just to have a quality music video.

“Someone like Sarkodie deserves the best video because he is one of the best and he pays well. He works very hard and treats people well as far as I am concerned,” he noted.

Pascal’s comment comes on the back of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale’s claim that music video directors have constantly delayed his works because they have favourites.

Although Pascal Aka stated categorically that he was not responding to Shatta Wale, he explained that the delay of a music video could be caused by a number of factors.

“If it’s me working for a specific artiste who did not pay me well, if I get another job that pays more such as an advert which pays literally hundred times more than a music video, then I will prioritise that more than an artiste who would not pay me well,” the Dogo Yaro music video director said.

Adding: “I know for a fact some people can be huge perfectionists. They will not release a video until they are happy with themselves. We are also artistes. Secondly, you can get engaged in a big project… you cannot prioritise work that is not paying.”
