The Bagre Dam, when spilled flows into the tributaries of the White Volta River in the Northern and Upper East Regions causing havoc to lives and properties in the low lying areas.

Farmers are unable to do their early harvesting of Millet because the flood submerged farms and destroyed crops along the White Volta.

There are fears that as it continues to rain compounding the situation further, the crops might get rotten before the water subsides to enable the farmers gain access to their farms.

Acting Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for the Binduri District, Mr Louis Laal-Bador said the farmers have no other alternative, but to wait for the flood to subside before they possibly get their crops.

He appealed to the government, the Member of Parliament for the Binduri Constituency, the District Assembly and benevolent individuals and organisations to come to the aid of the people, saying the situation was an annual occurrence and holistic measures need to be adopted to forestall the effects.
