He said government is owing a lot of companies in the power supply chain.

Speaking on Accra based Peace FM, Pratt called on government to be truthful to Ghanaians on the situation.

"They should stop giving us excuses. The reality is that the power outages are affecting businesses. It is not due to generation capacity; it is due to heavy indebtedness. There is no money to pay for gas and so on," he said.

The veteran journalist also warned that "if that debt is not cleared the dumsor will continue no matter the government in power".

Pratt also disagreed with government's position that the blackouts are due to gas supply challenges.

However, government through the Minister of Energy has assured that the power rationing will end in a fortnight.
