Over 1000 security personnel deployed for Oti Region referendum

Over 1000 security personnel are being deployed to provide security Thursday during the referendum for the <a id="3f1f46fa-837f-447b-84d1-8cc2d8b08fd9" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/news/local/oti-referendum-police-intercept-guns-ammunition/d8k79p5">creation of Oti Region.</a>

The Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Doku, says the move is to prevent "pocket of people from disrupting the election."

The "Yes" and "No" campaigners for the creation of the Oti Region have intensified their campaigns amidst claims of intimidation and threat of violence.

The security personnel for the referendum are drawn from the Police Service, Army, Fire Service and the Immigration Service.
