Gov't announces GHS 1,750,000 compensation for families of killed Asawase youth

The Government of Ghana has declared that the families of the 7 young men that were mistakenly shot by the police at <a id="e56ded5d-4f4c-46b2-9145-05216581f5b0" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/news/local/report-on-asawase-killing-submitted-to-attorney-general/zs2n07e">Asawase</a> in the Ashanti Region will be compensated with GHS 1,750,000.

Each family is expected to receive GHS 250,000 each.

This was announced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Zongo for Peace and Development Conference in Kumasi.

In July last year, the Ashanti Regional Police Command announced that they have killed seven out of the seven armed robbers that attacked and killed their colleague in Manso Nkwanta.

The alleged robbers attacked the bus the deceased officer, Lance Corporal Tieku was travelling on from Ayirebikrom to Manso Nkwanta and shot him.

However, a government investigations into the killings revealed that the killed persons were not armed robbers.
