Dr. Amoako-Tuffour fires Sammy Crabbe over intentions to contest

According to Dr. Amoako-Tuffour, no suspended official of the party can vie for any position unless their suspension is lifted.

According to him, no suspended official of the party can vie for any position unless their suspension is lifted.

"No suspended official of the party can vie for any position, just as the Acting General Secretary said earlier," he said on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

His comment comes at the back of Sammy Crabbe who has declared his intention to contest as National Chairman in the party.

A poster for his campaign said he intends to "build a party for all".

The poster markets him as having a "proven track record in championing the rights and welfare of all party executives and members."

But Dr Tuffuor said Sammy Crabbe and others cannot stand for any position in the party as far as they have not been cleared by the National Council.

"Mr. Crabbe is not reinstated and the acting General Secretary’s statement holds," he said.

Suspension

Sammy Crabbe was suspended by the National Executive Committee of the NPP after he failed to appear before a Disciplinary Committee of the party to answer misconduct charges leveled against him by two members of the party, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong.

He challenged the decision and said it was an act of lawlessness by "coup makers" who had thrown the party's long-held credentials to the dogs.

He proceeded to the Accra High Court months after his suspension to seek to annul the decision.

The case had the suspended chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko testifying as a witness for the plaintiff.

The Suspended General Secretary of the Party, Kwabena Agyepong, was in court in solidarity with the suspended Chairman who testified.

The High Court, however, dismissed his suit.
