I haven't been paid ex-gratia since leaving office - Kufuor
Ex-president Kufuor insists he hasn’t received his ex-gratia since he left office some nine years ago.

However, the ex-president insists he hasn’t received his ex-gratia since he left office some nine years ago.

He made the revelation while speaking to Accra-based Joy FM on Monday, 10 December 2018.
“I haven’t been paid ex-gratia,” he stated.

This, he said, is in spite the fact that there were committees that suggested ex-gratia for Article 71 office holders which were approved by parliament.
“The administration that took over from me pretended there hasn’t been such approval,” Kufuor added.

Article 71 (1) and (2) of the 1992 Constitution stipulates that the determination of the salaries and allowances of the Executive, the Legislature and the Judiciary paid from the Consolidated Fund would be determined by the President, on the recommendations of a committee of not more than five persons appointed by him and acting upon the advice of the Council of State.
Kufuor said his successors – Atta-Mills and John Dramani Mahama – failed to honour the stipulations in the said provision.
According to him, even the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is yet to pay him what is due since coming into office.
Kufuor was, however, quick to add that he is not bothered by the non-payment of his ex-gratia, insisting it is not his focus.
