President Mahama Fulfils His Promises To Adenta Inhabitants

President John Dramani Mahama has fulfilled his promise by commissioning the Kpong Water Supply Expansion on Tuesday, to ensure the people of Adenta get water supply.

The project was financed by the China Export Import Bank and the government of Ghana at a cost of $273 million. The seven communities set to benefit from this gesture are Adenta, Ashongman, Nii Boi Town, Ashaley Botwe, East Legon, Haatso, Dodowa and Dome all in the Greater Accra region, and in the Eastern Region, the communities include Somanya, Krobo, Odumase, towns on the Akuapem Ridge and Atimpoku will now have water running in their pipes after several years of suffering a complete cut-off in water supply.

President Mahama last year promised the people of Adenta they would begin to enjoy a flow by the end of 2014 after his government secured US$260 million loan from the Chinese government with a support of US$13 million coming from the Ghana government to help expand the water supply system from Kpong by 40 million gallons of water a day.

By turning on the valves at the Kpone Water Treatment Plant, an initial 20 million gallons of water will be supplied to the above mentioned communities.
