Thomas Partey despite signing a new deal at Atletico Madrid has played about half of his 14 league games this season as a starter.

He has fallen down the pecking order with the likes of Rodrigo, Saul Niguez, Koke and Thomas Lemar, being the preferred choice in midfield.

Thomas Partey who has attracted interest from England, France, Italy, etc has poured out his frustration over lack of much playing time with Diego Simeone’s side.

"Sometimes I feel unhappy in Atleti," Thomas said in a statement to Gol.

"To feel happy you have to play the important matches and feel stronger and more confident."

He, however, declared, in this sense, that he has had a "very good season" so far, "There have been games that I've played well."

Thomas Partey helped Atletico Madrid to win the UEFA Europa League and he has been instrumental in the scheme of things of the Black Stars.

He earned a place in the five shortlisted players for the BBC African Player of the Year and he was also one of the 23 players for the African Footballer of the Year, but he make the cut for the ten shortlisted players.
