The Blues started brightly under Maurizio Sarri in their opening game, but Arsenal were on the receiving end of a demoralising loss to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Meanwhile, the Citizens also have a date with Huddersfield Town at the Etihad, with Manchester United also scheduled to take on Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

In Italy, Juventus will open the Serie A campaign with a major test against Chievo Verona. The defending champions have Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks and are sure to catch the attention of every one.

Lazio will also be hosting last season’s most exciting side Napoli, whiles Roma also open their season with an away game to Torino.

In Spain, fans of the La liga are getting ready to start the season for the first time without seeing Cristiano Ronaldo in that everlasting fight for supremacy against Lionel Messi.

Barcelona, after winning the Spanish Super Cup, will welcome Deportivo Alaves on the opening weekend on the season, as they aim to deepen their dominance in La liga.

Real Madrid will also look to banish all negativity following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, when they come up against Getafe at the Bernabeu.
