Senegal beat South Africa to qualify for FIFA World Cup

The West Africans are the latest to book a place in the FIFA World Cup

Sadio Mane set up Diafra Sakho to get the opener in the early minutes, but Bafana Bafana afterwards piled pressure on the Taranga Lions for the equalizer, yet they failed to draw even.

And against the run of play Thamsanqa Mkhize in his quest to prevent Sadio Mane’s ball from entering the net ended up scoring an own goal to sink the hosts in the 38 minute.

The game was a replay of the original game which South Africa won 2-1 due to biased officiating by banned Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey against Senegal.

The victory handed Senegal their first FIFA World Cup qualification since Korea/Japan 2002.
