Paul Pogba visits Mecca to commemorate Ramadan

France and Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has paid a visit to Islam’s holiest city to commemorate the start of the Ramadan season.

The 24-year-old earlier tweeted that he was on his way “to go say thank you for this season”.

And the former Juventus player followed that up by tweeting a photo of himself on pilgrimage in the holy city of Mecca.

Pogba became the world’s most expensive football player when he moved from Juventus to Manchester United for £89 million.

The French international enjoyed a fairly impressive season with the English giants, winning the Capital One Cup, as well as the Europa league on his return to Manchester.

And it appears Pogba has started his pre-season very early, with a trip to Mecca to mark the start of Ramadan.

The three-time Scudetto winner in currently in Mecca to perform Umrah – a non-mandatory Muslim pilgrimage.

The midfielder described the experience as “the most beautiful thing” he had ever witnessed.

Pogba has been included in France’s squad to face Sweden, England and Paraguay in June, however, it remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will take part in the Ramadan fasting.
