Adam Kwarasey starts title defence on Independence Day

Adam Kwarasey, Harrison Afful, Patrick Nyarko, Dominic Oduro, Llyod Sam and Gideon Baah set for the new MLS season

The Black Stars goalkeeper did a superb job for his Portland Timbers team last season and is working hard in pre-season towards the 2016 league season.

Portland Timbers start their title defence with a home game against Columbus Crew.

Harrison Affull who plays for Columbus Crew is set to face international teammate Adam Larson Kwarasey once again after Portland Timbers beat his team to lift the 2015 Major League Soccer Cup.

Adam Kwarasey said ahead of the MLS season:

“It's been a short off season and easy easy to come back. I'm happy to see everybody and smile and have fun with my friends.

“Now we know what we need to do to win this thing [trophy] and it starts today. It's a long road and i ready for the new season.”

Patrick Nyarko and his DC United team will travel to LA Galaxy for their first game of the 2016 Major League Soccer season. The Ghana international played for Chicago Fire last season but joined United for the 2016 season.

David Accam is ill and might miss the opening fixture for his Chicago Fire team in their game against New York City FC.

Dominic Oduro of Montreal Impact will make a trip to play Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday.

Lloyd Sam of New York Red Bulls will will face FC Toronto. Gideon Baah joined Sam at the club and is set for his MLS debut against FC Toronto.
