The Porcupine Warriors lost to the Libyan giant in an international friendly

Kumasi Asante Kotoko were handed a 2-1 defeat by Al Ittihad Tripoli at the 80, 000 capacity Tripoli International Sports Stadium, Libya on Wednesday.

The Tripoli based side scored two first half goals before Kotoko pulled one back in the 2 half of the game.

Tarhuni in the 19 minute shot Al Ittihad into the lead, before Abdelmouin Khamaj doubled his side’s lead from the spot kick after Kotoko's skipper Amos Frimpong had brought down a player in the 18 yard box.

With humiliation smiling at the face of the Ghana giant, they came into the 2 with renewed strength and succeeded in getting the consolation goal through Obed Owusu.

In November Accra Hearts of Oak were thrashed 5-0 on aggregate by another Libyan giant, Al Ahly Tripoli at the same venue in an international friendly: losing 3-0 in the 1st leg and 2-0 in the 2nd leg.

Kotoko will engage Al Attihad in the 2 leg on Friday at the Libya International Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors sent half of their team to Libya, leaving the rest behind for the G6 tournament, which they emerged as winners.
