16 Sci-Fi Movies We’re Most Looking Forward to Seeing in 2020

2) Dune (December 18) Frank Herbert's epic novel will be adapted by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival). We can't think of anyone better. IMDB

3) Last Night in Soho (September 25) Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver) takes us to 1960s London where a fashion designer mysteriously appears. And probably unsuccessfully tries to hop a fence. IMDB

4) Free Guy (July 3) A bank teller learns that he is in fact an NPC inside a giant video game. Because Ryan Reynolds is only allowed to do dark, meta comedy, apparently. IMDB

5) Wendy (February 28) The boundary between sci-fi and magical realism can be a murky one. Beasts of the Southern Wild director Ben Zeitlin takes us to a mysterious island where time has come undone. It'll be a coming-of-age modern-day Peter Pan that we think will amaze. IMDB

6) The Invisible Man (February 28) Jordan Peele set off a horror sci-fi storm when he released Get Out. The story of a woman hunted (haunted?) after the death of her husband, makes this H.G. Wells adaptation of similar ilk. IMDB

7) Soul (June 19) The team behind Inside Out is back for another mind-body trip, this time with a musician transported outside his body. IMDB

8) Bill & Ted Face the Music (August 21) Except now they're middle aged dads. IMDB

9) Godzilla vs. Kong (March 13) It's a monster mash. IMDB

10) Black Widow (May 1) Natahsa Romanoff finally gets her own film. Just not an origin story. The film is apparently set between the events of Civil War and Infinity War. IMDB

11) Infinite (August 7) Training Day director Antoine Fuqua goes sci-fi with the story of a man who's hallucinations represent versions of himself from past lives. We're intrigued. IMDB

12) Morbius (July 31) With traces of biochemistry and vampirism, this summer drama promises more mixes of horror and sci-fi. Low expectations so far. IMDB

13) Bloodshot (February 21) Vin Disel plays a soldier, killed, and then somehow brought back with superpowers. It'll be a directorial debut for Dave Wilson. IMDB

14) The Tomorrow War (December 25) Not much to go on here. A war. In the future. Something about confronting the path. Chris Pratt. We'll have to check back in on this one. IMDB

15) The New Mutants (April 3) Early trailers for this horror X-men installment weren't super promising. But we welcome any attempt to shake up the bloated superhero genre. IMDB

16) Artemis Fowl (May 29) For the love of all things childhood memories, don't screw this up, Disney. (They're probably gonna screw it up.) IMDB
