Top Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein jailed 23 years for raping aspiring actress

The filmmaker before his case was one of the most powerful personalities in Hollywood with hit movies like “Rambo, “The Lord of the Rings”, “Django Unchained”, “Sin City” among others under his belt.

In October 2017, dozens of women have come forward with ‘#MeToo’ allegations of sexual misconduct, including rape, against Weinstein and that has now seen him handed a 23-year sentence after he was found guilty in a New York court.

According to a report by the BBC, “Weinstein was found guilty of committing a first-degree criminal sexual act against production assistant Miriam Haley in 2006 and of the third-degree rape of former aspiring actress Jessica Mann in 2013”. 

Harvey was handed his verdict in the presence of all six women who testified against him during his trial on Wednesday and still faces further criminal charges, for rape and sexual assault, in Los Angeles.
