Jack Black Thought Kevin Hart Would Never Walk Again After His Car Accident
"It all boiled down to four walls [in the hospital]. And in the space of those four walls was my wife and my brother, my kids and my friends, all on rotation. And I got a chance to think about what matters, and its not fame," Hart explained. "Its not money. Its not jewelry, cars, or watches. What matters are relationships. You know, the people that were helping me getup and out of the bed."
Hart's Jumanji co-star Jack Black also spoke about how he felt when he heard about Hart's accident.
"I remember seeing the photos of that smashed-up car," Black told Men's Health. "My mind couldnt help but go to the worst possible scenario. I was just praying that hed walk again."
And while many people would have taken an extended period of time off in order to recover from such a harrowing crash, Black says that Hart's perseverance wouldn't allow him to do so, and he's been working while heading back to the gym and undergoing physical therapy.
"I thought, 'Hes got to take a year off and just get healthy.' If I had spinal surgery of any kind, forget about itIll see you in 2024. But hes not that kind of person," Black explained. The actor also called his co-star "fearless," and said that he "runs on a certain kind of rocket fuel."
Hart is definitely showing no signs of slowing down soonhis next animated movie, Minions: The Rise of Gru, will be released on July 3, and his long-awaited drama Fatherhood , will premiere in early 2021. Hart also served as producer on the film.
