Lolo Jones Admits Publicizing Her Virginity Was a ‘Mistake’
While sitting in a tub of freezing ice along side Hart, Jones, 37, said, That killed all my dates after that. Like didnt even have a chance. Before, at least I had a chance.
The Olympian continued, Before, Id like, tiptoe. 'Okay, whens a good time to tell him? Do I wait until he sees my personality a little bit? Or do I just drop the bomb?
Hart asked if Jones choice to wait until marriage stemmed from her family, but that has nothing to do with her resolution to remain celibate.
Its definitely not from my mom. I mean, my mom never was married. So five kids, you trust shes having fun.
Jones, who competed in the 2008, 2012, and 2014 Olympic games, initially got candid about her decision to wait until marriage in 2012, in a segment on HBOs Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel .
Its just something, a gift I want to give to my husband, she told Gumbel.
But please understand, this journey has been hard. Theres virgins out there, Im gonna let them know, its the hardest thing Ive ever done in my life.
Harder than training for the Olympics, harder than graduating from college, has been to stay a virgin before marriage.
Jones isnt the only virgin who's made the choice to wait until marriage.
Quarterback Tim Telbow, Linebacker Manti Te'o, and former NBA champion AC Green, were all reportedly virgins.
As for whether remaining celibate helps with her focus as an athlete, Jones said, I have a higher level of intensity because I dont have any pressure release.
She continued, So everybody knows me as [being] stressed out.
