Following the <a href="https://eu.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2019/09/17/nbc-streaming-service-offer-saved-bell-remake-peacock/2349958001/" id="6421f234-342a-3733-ac99-5315d15d803e">...

"Everybody can sleep well at night," Gosselaar joked this week , seemingly confirming that yes, he will be involved in the new show. "Im happy to be a part of it," he added. "What Ive read so far, Im good." Gosselaar played series lead Zack Morris for the entirety of the original show's run, from 1989 to 1993, as well as in the spinoff Saved by the Bell: The College Years and two TV movies, Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style and Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas.

Gosselaar has also hinted that Tiffani Thiessen, who played Kelly Kapowski, will also be returning "in some capacity." Gosselaar and Thiessen join fellow cast members Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez , who have already been cast in the new show. Berkeley played cheerleader Jessie Spano and Lopez played A.C. Slater, and they are expected to reprise the same roles in the revival. Among the new generation of Saved by the Bell stars is transgender actress Josie Totah (Champions, Glee), who will play cheerleader and queen bee Lexi.

The official synopsis reads: "When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality."

The plot point that involves Zack now being a politician was devised prior to Gosselaar's involvement in the series, so it remains unclear whether his part in the show will be a cameo in the pilot which reintroduces audiences to the world of Bayside, or if he'll make numerous appearances. It's unlikely he will be a series regular, given that he is already pretty busy starring in ABC's mixed-ish.
