NADMO issues heat exhaustion alert

<a href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/news/local/eastern-region-british-national-drowns-in-affram-river/7zmv16h" id="e8da79a1-70e3-4043-903c-743fd6e0b353">The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO)</a> has warned that there will be excessive heat exhaustion in the country today.

They said the exhaustion will be caused by high temperatures which is expected across Ghana throughout the day.

In a statement, NADMO explained that heat exhaustion occurs after an individual is exposed to extremely high temperatures and is often accompanied by dehydration.

The statement also said, "the average temperature expected tomorrow is expected to be the highest this week from 39°C to 42°C during midday, as a result, heat-related illness is most likely."

“Heat exhaustion is a condition where symptoms may include heavy sweating and a rapid pulse, a result of your body overheating. This occurs after one is exposed to high temperatures and is often accompanied by dehydration.”

They advised that Ghanaians should drink a lot of fluids and avoid tight clothing.

“In view of this, NADMO wishes to alert the general public to take the following precautionary measures. Drink plenty of fluids (cool water, juices) Avoid caffeine and alcohol Avoid tight clothing Wear light clothing.”
