Sarkodie is the only Ghanaian artiste 'at the top' – Akon

At a press conference on Sunday (December 29, 2019), the Senegalese-American singer was asked to mention three Ghanaian artistes who he believes are putting the country on the map.

In a response, Akon said that the same question was asked in every African country he visited.

He said there are over 50 countries in Africa and “I cannot know them all.”

“I only know them when the songs get to the top, and in Ghana the one that has reached the top is Sarkodie.”

The African-American artiste is in Ghana for the “Year of Return” programme.

The initiative was launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo to get African Americans and blacks in the diaspora to visit Ghana to appreciate their roots and the African culture.
