Sheebaby jumps to Shatta Wale's defence, says he was indeed paid £80K (VIDEO)
This comes after the hullabaloo sparked by Shatta Wale's claim that he was paid £80,000 for his performance at the 2023 Ghana Music Awards in the UK.
On October 11, during his radio show, Akwasi Aboagye openly expressed doubts about Shatta Wale’s purported performance fee, suggesting that the £80,000 payment was an exaggeration.
According to him, it was unlikely that any Ghanaian event organizer would pay such a substantial sum for an artist’s performance.
However, Sheebaby, who also happens to be a representative of the Shatta Movement in the UK, took to Facebook to passionately defend Shatta Wale’s honour. In a live session, she did not mince words and used some strong language in her response to Akwasi Aboagye. Sheebaby insisted that Shatta Wale was indeed paid the £80,000, as he claimed, and expressed her frustration with the radio presenter’s comments.
During her live session, Sheebaby didn’t stop at defending Shatta. She also criticized Akwasi Aboagye’s professionalism as a journalist, suggesting that he needed to go back to the classroom or seek proper training in journalism. Sheebaby’s passionate defence of Shatta Wale showcased the unwavering loyalty of fans to their favourite artists.
Dancehall musician Shatta Wale himself was not one to take these allegations lightly. In response to Akwasi Aboagye’s doubts, he unleashed a tirade of insults and threats towards the radio broadcaster during a TikTok Live video. At one point, he even directed his anger towards Aboagye’s employers, Osei Kwame Despite and Fadda Dickson, suggesting that they were foolish for doubting his claims.
“Kwasi Aboagye, if you are not sacked from Peace FM… You, Despite, and Fadda Dickson are all fools,” Shatta Wale exclaimed in his video. He continued to defend the authenticity of the £80,000 payment he received for his performance, emphasizing the difficulties he faced earlier in his career when he had to sleep at Circle, a busy and challenging part of Accra.
The controversy surrounding Shatta Wale’s performance fee at the 2023 Ghana Music Awards UK has certainly stirred up emotions and discussions within the Ghanaian entertainment industry. While artists and their representatives passionately defend their honour and claims, it remains to be seen if more evidence will surface to confirm the actual payment made to Shatta Wale.
For now, fans like Sheebaby are adamant in their support for their beloved artist, Shatta Wale, and are not shy about expressing their opinions and frustrations when someone questions his integrity. Hear more from her in the video below.
