Media shy music act Sia has been named the 'Songwriter of the Year' for the third time in a row at the Australasian Performing Right Association (Apra) awards.

When she receives the award, she would become Australia's most honoured songwriter. "This is an unprecedented, and very likely, a never-to-be-repeated achievement” said Apra chief executive Brett Cottle.

He described Sia as "one of the most successful and acclaimed songwriters of her era.”

The 39 year old singer and songwriter is responsible for big hits such as 'Diamonds' by Rihanna, and 'Titanium' by DJ Guetta.

Her single 'Chandelier' was one of the biggest hits of 2014.
