I’m young but… – 22 year old parliamentary aspirant

The level 200 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology who defeated incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Kofi Frimpong by polling 321 votes has been described by many as not cut for the job.

Twenty-two-year-old parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Kwabre East constituency, Francisca Oteng-Mensah says she is young but can lead her constituency.

The level 200 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology who defeated incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Kofi Frimpong by polling 321 votes has been described by many as not cut for the job.

They argue that Ms. Oteng-Mensah is too young to lead such a constituency. Again, her lecture schedules will not make her an efficient MP should she win the 2016 parliamentary election in the constituency.

But Ms. Oteng-Mensah in an exclusive interview with Starr News’ Ashanti regional correspondent Isaac Bediako said she is prepared for the mission ahead. She however added that she is considering deferring her education at KNUST or combining it with her parliamentary work if she is elected into the Law House in next year’s election.“It’s not just about me, it’s going to be all of us, we are all going to work together to see how best we can improve Kwabre East, so as for experience I am asking people to put that aside”, she said. The daughter of the Chief Executive Officer of Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kweku Oteng got 321 votes while the incumbent MP, Kofi Frempong had 187 votes. Lawyer Osei-Poku obtained 202 and K Adjei- Sefa got 33 votes.
