Teacher trainees at Komenda College protest over 'unapproved fees'

Students have also accused the bursar of misappropriating the college funds and extorting monies from students.

Teacher trainees of the Komenda College of Education have protested against the introduction of unapproved fees by the school's authorities.

Hundreds of students took to the streets on Friday morning, January 22, 2016, in red arm-bands boycotted classes carrying placards with inscriptions including "Why Diploma bi expensive than degree, "Bursar must go" and "Release our SRC dues to us"

They also stated that there was no financial transparency at the administration.

According to the students, they were paying more fees compared to students of other colleges.

The students said the latest of such unapproved levies was the demand that each student paid 30 cedis for lawns.

They said it was worrying that the students appeal to the school’s administration on such unapproved fees had fallen on deaf ears.

The students, however, have called for the immediate removal of the Principal of the School, Comfort Korsah.
