Over the weekend, Twitter got heated after Shatta Wale took a swipe at multiple award-winning blogger Ameyaw Debrah.
The “Dem Confuse” singer tried to ‘shame’ the blogger on Twitter after the latter reported on Sarkodie and Stonebwoy’s performance at One Africa Music Fest concert in Dubai but didn’t report the former’s performance at Indigo, 02 in London over the weekend.
“Shay shay shay shame!!!!!!” was Shatta Wale’s response to Ameyaw Debrah’s tweet about Stonebwoy and Sarkodie’s Dubai performance.
Some of his fans followed the suit, ranted and dragged him in the mud amid name callings. Despite having support from some Stonebwoy and Sarkodie fans, Ameyaw clapped back at a few fans.
The two haven’t been cool for the past 5 years and it seems people, especially Shatta Wale’s staunch fans don’t know why.
Well, for those who have no idea about what’s going on, Shatta Wale and Ameyaw Debrah’s fall out dates back to 2013. It’s the same year Shatta Wale violently stormed out of the Accra International Conference Centre during the Ghana Music Awards after losing out the “Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year” award to Kaakie.
In December same year, Shatta Wale was billed to perform at the YFM Loud in GH concert alongside Kaakie, Jupitar, Stonebwoy and Samini.
And during his performance, something happened – he refused to leave the stage for Samini after performing nearly 30 songs.
“…the concert which headlined top dancehall artistes in the country had Samini and Shatta Wale on the bill, but to the surprise of many, Shatta Wale refused to stop performing after he had performed close to 30 songs knowing Samini was next to perform.
Several times he was signalled to end his performance but he chose to caution the organisers to allow him to do his job which is to entertain his fans while the crowd kept on chanting his name. He was allowed to perform and he never stopped.
His attitude compelled the organizers to pull the plug on the PA system which Shatta Wale regardless kept on performing to the chant of his fans for some minutes before he gave up the stage,” a detailed report by Ismail Akwei of GhanaWeb said.
Ameyaw Debrah culled the report from Ghanaweb and sourced them. He later received a call from Shatta Wale’s management who expressed their displeasure in the article.
“A call came in from his management, accusing me of being biased towards Shatta Wale’s brand. Shatta Wale expressed his anger in the background. There was a back and forth with his management and we never concluded,” Ameyaw told Pulse.com.gh
He said after the call, Shatta Wale personally called him and gave him a chilling threat saying: “If you love your life, write about me again.”
Since then, Ameyaw Debrah has refused to publish his stories or mention him on social media. Any post Ameyaw makes about Shatta Wale is paid from event organisers.
Ameyaw Debrah is not the only Ghanaian blogger Shatta Wale has threatened. Even recently, he threatened to assault YFM Kumasi show host and blogger NY DJ for publishing a story which links to drugs.
He has, on several occasions, threatened to assault any blogger who will publish any ‘negative’ stories about him.
