Mahama dines with Ghanaian community in Ethiopia

The interaction, which was over dinner is a regular feature on the President's itinerary during the AU Session.

President John Mahama and his wife, Lordina, on Friday night interacted with the Ghanaian community in Ethiopia.

Also present at the event were some members of the diplomatic community.

President Mahama on Friday, also held a number of bilateral discussions ahead of the opening of the Summit.

Mrs. Mahama who is the President of the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV & AIDS (OAFLA) also chaired the Steering Committee meeting of the Organisation.

The First Ladies' meetings the place on the sidelines of the AU Heads of State and Government meetings.

The 26th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union opens this morning in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The leaders are meeting on the theme, "2016: African Year of Human Rights with a particular focus on Women Rights".

The meeting will also consider reports and the draft decisions of the Peace and Security Council, the NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee, the Committee of 10 on UN Reforms and the African Peer Review Mechanism.

Other reports will be from the High Level Committee on the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change.
