According to the lawmakers, the Commission appears to be asleep.
This observation comes in the wake of the impasse between government and members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).
At press conference Thursday, August 20, the Minority through Dr Richard Anane, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Select Committee on Health, said the role of arbitrator expected to be played by the Commission has not been seen as regards the government-doctors impasse.

Dr Anane, a Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency, called on both government and the doctors to return to the negotiation table as their action is at the detriment of the vulnerable Ghanaian.
“Mistrust for a person is not mistrust for an institution,” Dr Anane, a medical practitioner, said.
“We may also appeal to the government to help the National Labour Commission to get back its teeth. The National Labour Commission does not appear to be biting.”
On Wednesday, the Commission after a meeting with both parties, directed them to return to the negotiation table, ordering the doctors in particular to call off their strike.
The two parties have been asked by the Commission to report back on Monday, August 24.
