NDC behind attack on my church- Owusu Bempah

Revered Owusu Bempah is blaming the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the attack on the Odorkor branch of his church by some irate Muslim youth.

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah

According to the founder and leader of the Glorious Word and Power Ministry, those who attacked his church are not Muslims but NDC members although the spoke Hausa.

He claimed in an interview that the NDC mobilized the irate youth to vandalize his church after an assassination attempt on his life failed.

“NDC sent someone from Salaga to assassinate me so I knew those who came to my church even though they were speaking Hausa were not Muslims,” he said on Asempa FM.

His Odorkor Church in the Greater Accra Region was attacked and properties vandalized by the youth who were angered by his prophecy about the National Chief Imam.

Wielding clubs and machetes, they attacked a security guard at the entrance to the Glorious Word and Power Ministry church then began hurling stones at its windows and smashing up the musical instruments and furniture inside.

The incident came after Reverend Isaac Owusu-Bempah prophesied the deaths of Muslim spiritual leader Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and Ghana's Muslim vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in a New Year's Eve sermon.

The Chief Imam has strongly condemned the attack on Owusu Bempah's church, calling for calm and restraint.

"Ghana has gained respect in the eyes of the world because of the peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims. We're all brothers and nothing must divide us," Sheikh Sharubutu said.

"We must all restrain ourselves and pray for life. Ghana is all we have. Religion is supposed to unite us and not divide us," he added.
