Police rescues 2 masons tied in a manhole for alleged theft

The two, identified as Kwaku Akorli (58) and Hope Hortor (28), have subsequently been hospitalised after going through the ordeal.

Accra-based Citi FM reports that the gruesome act was masterminded by the owner of a building being constructed by the masons.

Meanwhile, two persons, Manasseh Adzroku and Victor Harrison, have been named as the people who tied the masons in the manhole.

The attention of the Police was drawn to the situation after they received a distress call from a concerned resident.

A patrol team at Adoteiman in the Abokobi District was subsequently dispatched to the scene to rescue the two masons.

The victims were very weak after the rescue and so were immediately sent to the Danfa Health Center for medical attention, an eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the perpetrators have been arrested and detained at the Ayi Mensa Police Station.

This was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, DSP. Afia Tenge.
