Vice President of Inter Milan Javier Zanetti has opened up on his team's chances of qualifying from the Group C of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stages.

Dubbed the 'Group of Death' of this year's Champions League group stages, Inter Milan were drawn alongside European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Barcelona as well as minnows Viktoria Plzen.

Thus, the Italian club will be involved in a three-way battle with the former champions to secure one of two automatic qualification spots to the knockout stage.

Fully accepting the enormity of the challenge ahead of Inter Milan, Zanetti admitted that the Italian giants have found themselves in a 'difficult and complicated' group.

While commenting on the Champions League draws as posted on Inter Milan's official website, the former Inter player turned administrator noted that the Champions League is where you play the best and they showed they can do that when they met Inter Milan last season.

Zanetti said: "It is certainly a difficult and complicated group, with two teams like Bayern and Barcelona who are used to playing this competition, but we are Inter. Last year we proved to be up to par with Liverpool.

"Surely for these big matches we will have to be in top form. The Champions is the competition of details, there are the best teams, we are there and we will play for it. In 2010 we faced Barcelona and Bayern, but that was a while ago."

The 49-year-old ex-Argentine international while admitting that they could find themselves in trouble in the group, ran a rule over both Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Zanetti noted that while Bayern Munich seem to be the more stable and formidable team, Barcelona are still finding their 'balance and identity.'

Zanetti claimed: "Football has changed. These two teams are capable of putting you in trouble. We are growing, as we demonstrated last season with Liverpool.

Tackling these teams is a great stimulus, Bayern have a very consolidated team, and Barcelona are finding balance and identity. We want to give continuity to the path. There is no fear, but respect."
