In February 2013, police secured the medical report of Richlove which indicates she was badly assaulted by the defender.
Former Black Stars right-back John Painstil has been put behind cells for assaulting a police officer.
The former West Ham and Fulham guardsman was locked up at the East Legon police cells on Tuesday evening.
Painstil was invited by the East Legon police to answers questions after his wife, Richlove Painstil made a report against him for taking her car without her knowledge.
However, Painstil went to the police station and upon interrogations he got angry and punched the police officer.
"It was last Sunday that John Paintsil’s wife made a report that his husband has stolen her car so in our investigation we invited John for an interrogation.
“So Tuesday evening John Paintsil and his wife came to the police station so in the process of the interrogation Painstil punched the police officer so we have no option than to arrest him and put him behind cells,” Greater Accra regional police PRO, DSP Effia Tenge told Hot FM.
It could be recalled that Painstil was arrested in 2013 for assaulting his wife but he was granted bail.
