The fatal accident occurred after a Sprinter Benz bus with registration number GT 5249 – 17 loaded with passengers and en route to Accra attempted an overtaking but unfortunately crashed head on with an articulated truck with registration number ER 5382 – X in the Ashanti region.
According to reports, three people died on the spot while five others were declared dead at the Ejisu Hospital.
The articulated truck reportedly run into a nearby house after crashing with the Sprinter Bus causing further damage to the roadside building.
ACP Laar Baman, the Ejisu Divisional Police Commander, who confirmed the incident in an interview said five females and three males were among the deceased.
The injured people have been rushed to the Ejisu Hospital and are receiving treatment.
