Mammoth crowd witness enkinment of Regent of Dagbon

Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai was installed as the new Regent of Dagbon on Friday December 14 as part of activities lined up for the performance of the funeral of the Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

People climbed on trees, some on cars as people from all walks of life trooped to the newly constructed Gbewaa Palace in Yendi to witness the enskinment of the new Regent of Dagbon, Zuu Abdulai.

Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai was installed as the new Regent of Dagbon on Friday December 14 as  part of activities lined up for the performance of the funeral of the Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

He is the first surviving son of late Yaa- Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV.

He became the Boling-Lana at the age of 14, a day after Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV was laid to rest at the Katini duu.

He has since been the Regent of his late father for 30 years now.

Earlier, the Northern Regional Minister handed over the keys of the Gbewaa palace to the Regent of Nantong on behalf of the Abudu Royal Family.

In a statement, the Abudu family has vowed to ensure the burial ceremony of the late Yaa Naa is done free of violence.
