Mr Beautiful, Latif Abubakar and Korkui Selormey appointed to Creative Arts Agency board

Renowned Ghanaian filmmaker Ivan Quashigah has been appointed as Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of the Ghana National Film Authority (GNFA), signalling a renewed effort to revitalise the country’s film industry.

The board was inaugurated in accordance with the Development and Classification of Film Act (Act 935), and is tasked with regulating, promoting, and supporting the growth of Ghana’s film sector.

Established in 2016 under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the National Film Authority has played a key role in film classification, policy formulation, and advocacy for the creative sector.

Ivan Quashigah, who is the founder and CEO of Farmhouse Productions, brings decades of experience in filmmaking, television production, and public health communication. He is widely celebrated for creating the iconic youth-centred series "Things We Do for Love" and "YOLO (You Only Live Once)," the latter of which won seven awards at the 2016 Ghana Movie Awards and has been praised for its positive influence on youth education and health awareness.

A graduate of the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), where he studied directing and scriptwriting, Quashigah also holds an Executive Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He has earned over 18 awards, both locally and internationally.

Joining him on the board is actress and producer Kafui Danku Pitcher, who has been appointed as Executive Secretary. Veteran actor Augustine Abbey, popularly known as Idikoko, will represent the Film Producers Association of Ghana.

Meanwhile, the government has also inaugurated a new 14-member governing board for the Creative Arts Agency, comprising a mix of government officials and prominent industry stakeholders. Their collective mandate includes tackling key challenges in the creative sector, such as copyright protection, access to funding, and infrastructure development.
