• PRESEC, Legon took control early, moving from 9 points in Round 1 to 21 points by Round 3 and holding the lead through Round 4.

• The Problem of the Day was a tough one, with PRESEC scoring 4/10, while Accra Academy and St. Augustine’s College both recorded 0/10.

• PRESEC finished on top with 40 points, beating Accra Academy’s 33 points and St. Augustine’s College’s 27 points.

NSMQ is a national quiz competition between Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the country and a key element of the NSMQ is about claiming the bragging rights of champions.

Contestants look forward to winning so they can beat their chests and recount how they beat so-and-so school to win the trophy.

The 2026 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) delivered yet another unforgettable showdown, with PRESEC-Legon winning their ninth national title.

PRESEC-Legon and Mfantsipim is the only school to have won the title two consecutive times with PRESEC-Legon wining the highest number of nine trophies . 

On the list of top winners, Presec Legon has won 9 followed by Prempeh with 5 and Persco with 3.

The latest edition 2026, PRESEC, Legon was cooking! They started Round 1 on 9 points, while Accra Academy and St. Augustine’s were tied on 11 points each. By Round 2, PRESEC and St. Augustine’s had levelled up to 17 points, with Accra Academy on 14. Round 3 saw PRESEC take the lead with 21 points, followed by St. Augustine’s on 17 and Accra Academy on 14.

Then came the Problem of the Day — PRESEC bagged 4/10, while Accra Academy and St. Augustine’s unfortunately went home with 0/10.

By the end of Round 4, PRESEC was still ahead on 34 points, with Accra Academy on 30 and St. Augustine’s on 27. And when the dust finally settled, PRESEC sealed the win with 40 points, Accra Academy finished with 33, while St. Augustine’s ended on 27.
