Speaking to Showbiz last Friday, she said that currently the music business has become very competitive and she would not want to enter unprepared.

Ghanaian actress Nana Ama Mcbrown apart from adding directing and producing to her acting skills, she has also decided to add music to her many careers.

The actress whose performances on live stages such as Okyeame Kwame’s Versatile Show and Becca’s Girl Talk concert earned her considerable applause and admiration appears to have finally made up her mind to take up the singing as full time career.

Speaking to Showbiz last Friday, she said that currently the music business has become very competitive and she would not want to enter unprepared.

“I have started training my vocals and attending my studio sessions religiously, I want to be mature before I venture into the industry make a final move“, she said. Many actors and actresses such as Juliet Ibrahim, Rama Brew, Kuamawood star Mercy Asiedu  and the intriguing comedian Kofi Adu popularly known as Agya Koo have over the years taken a diversion into music and Nana Ama’s decision to follow suit would not come as a surprise.

The award-winning actress however added that it was not easy being an actress and she was aware that trying to be a musician as well was going to be even more difficult.

“In our society, when a person tries to move from one profession to the other, people then begin to question the rationale. “When did you begin singing, we knew you as an actress or actor, why do you want to do music now and other such discouraging comments.”It is for this reason that she said she was slowly clearing the way for her music career by performing on other small stages such as weddings so that when she finally releases her album, it would not come as a surprise to her fans. Nana Ama began singing at church at a very tender age and believes that she should have started singing before taking up acting but “our destinies have been planned for us long before we are born”, she said. Concluding she said, ”it takes everybody to be a singer but does not take everybody to be a musician, once you have the dream, with hard work and dedication anything and everything is possible.”
