Popular Ghanaian club Disc Jockey has revealed in an exclusive with Pulse.com.gh, that it’s about time a club DJ wins the most prestigious award at the highly anticipated 2015 Ghana DJ Awards. Popular known as DJ Booty Brown, is one of Ghana’s finest club spinners with over 5 years of experience on the desk.

The award-winning DJ was nominated in three categories at the year’s Ghana DJ Awards – “Club DJ Of The Year”, “Best Mobile DJ Of The Year” and the most prestigious “Best DJ Of The Year” categories. He competes with the likes of Andy Dosty, DJ Black, DJ Mensah, DJ Collins and Nii Aryee Tagoe for the most prestigious trophy of the night.

Recounting on his success at the awards event, he said “I had only one nomination last year but this year, I had three nominations – which is a huge achievement and progress.”

He believes club DJs are playing significant roles in promoting Ghanaian music even on the streets. According to him, there’s nothing special about the Best DJ award but insists he is the best candidate for that category saying “it’s about time club DJs need to be recognised. It’s about time club DJ wins the top awards. It’s about time things change.”

In his desperate attempt for the Best DJ of the year award, he said “I will support even if he I don’t win anything, but the role i have played (in promoting Ghana music in clubs) must get me the top award or it will change the credibility of the awards.”

He urge his fans to keep supporting him with votes in order to win the awards in his respective categories.

This year - the biggest in the history of the awards, under the theme AMPLIFIED, organizers, Merqury Republic, in a quest to include all facets of the Disc Jockeying, have revealed plans for a spectacular DJ showdown and a typical Night Club setting at the Accra International Conference Centre on February 21.

The highly anticipated event which has received positive reviews on radio and trending on social media will see some of the country's top celebrities, music acts and iconic Disc Jockeys grace the occasion.
