On Tuesday, the drivers, together with the private owner of the biggest bus terminal at Madina, came out to register their displeasure with the idea.
According to them, the Assembly and the GRPTU are extorting huge sums of money from them under the guise of collecting tolls.
Accra-based Citi FM reports that the drivers vowed not to pay the tolls until the deplorable roads in the Madina Municipality are fixed.
“We met with the assembly and expressed our sentiments. We asked them to reduce the time frame for the collection of the tolls. That was accepted, but our members are agitating because the tolls were being collected from 4:00am and 11:00pm,” one of the aggrieved drivers is quoted as saying.

Another added: “The authorities are cheating us by charging us more. We insist on paying only Ghc6.00."
Meanwhile, others also claimed that they are protesting because the time-frame for the collection of the toll is too long.
