The Philippines has just rolled out the first legal framework of regulations for app based ride-hailing, which essentially allows Uber to operate legally anywhere in the country.

Under the provisions of the new regulations, Uber cars are required to be GPS-equipped sedans, SUVs, vans or utility vehicles that are not more than 7 years old.

“We are pleased to have collaborated closely with Uber and other tech companies in crafting regulations for a new class of public utility vehicles,” Secretary of the Philippines Department of Transportation and Communication, Jun Abaya said.
Ride conditions may vary and are not guaranteed however. The capital, Manila’s traffic, for example, is ranked among the top ten worst in the world.
