Some security guards at the Manhyia Palace have been sacked over the leaked viral video in which President John Dramani Mahama was seen dancing with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu went viral. According to report by The Chronicle Newspaper, several security personnel, who were hitherto close to the powerful Asante King have been removed and replaced with new faces at the palace.
In addition, the security at the Palace has also been intensified with the introduction of strict criteria to regulate individuals who have access to the inner chamber. The royal seat is baffled as to why and how the video was recorded in the first place during a party which was supposed to be strictly by invitation and attended by only highly respected political functionaries and traditional rulers the report indicated. The video of a royal party held at the Palace showed Otumfuo and President Mahama dancing heartily to the popular ‘Yentie Obiaa’ song composed by one of Ghana’s popular Highlife artistes, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba.
Though there was no immediate information about who was actually responsible for the recording and leakage of the tape, security personnel around the Otumfuo were held responsible for failing to regulate activities during the occasion. They were also reprimanded for allowing videos and photographs of the king and the President to be taken
The Newspaper report added that though the Royal Palace is least perturbed by the video, it is not enthused about the apparent breach of security, hence the decision to change the security personnel.
