That fixture, though, turned out to be his 99th appearance in the German topflight, having also lined up for Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke O4.
Last Sunday the former AC Milan man reached a 100 appearances in the Bundesliga after starting for Eintracht Frankurt in their home game against Wolfsburg.
The 30-year-old, however, ended up on the losing side, as an early first-half goal from Daniel Didavi turned out to be the winner for the visitors.

Boateng started his career by playing for the youth side of Hertha Berlin in 2004. He was later promoted to the senior team in 2007, where he played for two more years.
Despite moving abroad to play in England and Germany, he returned to his country of birth to play for Schalke from 2013 to 2015, before joining Las Palmas in Spain.
After just a year in Spain, Boateng again decided to leave, with his preferred destination being Frankfurt.
