The Committee of Eminent Chiefs led by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has said the final funeral rites of the late overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Yakubu Andani II, will continue despite gun violence recorded on Thursday and Friday.

In a statement issued by the Manhyia Palace reacting to the recorded violence, the committee said funeral will proceed in accordance with the road map.

"On Sunday 13 January, 2019, all customary process will continue to pave the way for the performance of the funeral by the Elders of the Andani royal family," the staff issued by the Manhyia Chief of Staff said.

According to the statement, the Kampakuya-Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai, will perform the "circumambulation to complete the funeral process on Friday January 18, 2019."

This will then pave the way for the accredited elders of Dagbon to enter the sacred seclusion to consult the traditional oracles for the selection of a new Yaa Naa, the statement further noted.

The committee also directed Northern Regional Security Council to provide adequate security to facilitate the smooth performance of the funeral by the Andani royal family and the selection of a new Yaa Naa.
