As part of efforts to regulate drugs and vaccines being developed to ensure they suit local populations, the Food and Drugs Authority has held a Clinical Practice training for Pharmacists involved in clinical trials.

FDA holds Clinical Practice training for Pharmacists
The training, which began since 2008, is targeted at all researchers including pharmacists, doctors, and computer scientists.

Speaking to Pulse.com.gh, the Acting Deputy Chief Executive for Clinical Trials and Safety, Mimi Darko said the purpose of the training is to ensure that clinical researchers in this country also catch up with the rest of the world in scientific research.
"Internationally, research and innovation is changing. So if there are different methods that are being used outside, we update ourselves as regulators all the time. We go for meetings with the European Medicine Agency. Whatever we learn there, we make sure that we bring it down into the country to ensure that researchers in this country are also abreast with what is happening internationally," Mimi Darko added.
Meanwhile, over 20 pharmacists took part in this year's training.
