There is news every day but these ten stories have ruled the headlines for long when it comes to entertainment and got almost the whole nation talking.

For the first time at the VGMAs, the biggest winner of the night “Artiste Of The Year” wasn't announced. This was due to the infamous fracas that erupted during the awards night. Teams of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy clashed and the Bhim Nation president pulled out a gun on stage. The story attracted so many headlines including how the two acts were later arrested and arraigned before court.

The biggest news in 2019 that followed the VGMAs fracas was how Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy finally made peace. By the courtesy of Dr Kofi Abban and support from Nana Aba Anamoah, the once upon a time arch rivals held a press conference to smoke the peace pipe, which also came as a big surprise to their fans.

Shatta Wale shocked the whole nation this year when he showed up as the only Ghanaian recording act featured by Beyonce on her “Lion King; The Gift” album. The news lasted for days across all media platforms.

The two rappers gave Ghana the biggest musical beef that happened after Sarkodie and M.anifest’s lyrical clash in 2016. Music lovers were entertained with the back to back diss tracks Medikal and Strongman released to each other.

The Tema based rapper made history after he won the Best International Flow at this years BET Hip Hop Awards. The category was introduced this year and King Sark became the first to win it after beat competition from Nasty C, Falz, Tory Lanez among others.

Beyonce’s “Lion King; The Gift” which featured Shatta Wale was nominated for the 2020 Grammys. The news caused excitement in Ghana among fans of Shatta Wale at the back of reports that the dancehall act becomes a Grammy nominee too. However, it was met a backlash and confusion as some showbiz pundits nullified the claims.

C.E.O of Rufftown Records, Bullet introduced Fantana as his new signed act this year. Within a period of 4 months, Fantana’s popularity quadrupled due to a couple of controversies. One of these is her back and forth “Kut It” saga with Bullet himself.

NAM1 went into exile after the closure of his Menzgold company by the government. It was later disclosed that he was busted in Dubai, where he was kept in custody whilst he battles a case in court. Later this year, he returned to Ghana. Throughout this period till now, there have been countless stories around the Zylofon Media boss.

Another major news that made headlines is Beca welcoming her first child after her marriage last year to her Nigerian husband. The Ghanaian singer was hit with a family scandal after her mum called her out for ditching because her husband claims she is a witch. The news gathered a number of headlines which also saw Beca weeping during an interview when she was addressing it.

The Excellence In Broadcasting Network media house lost most of its major staff. This saw Berla Mundi and Giovanni Caleb joining TV3 and Jay Foley moving Multi Media. The news shocked fans as EIB, headed by Bola Ray appeared to be giants in the media but unfortunately lost its feet.

Bola Ray later admitted that the company has been facing financial issues. On the other hand, TV3 appeared to be rising above its height following how the media house hired popular faces from other media houses to join its outfit.

The government introduced a “Year Of Return” initiative which seeks to invite people of African roots to visit the continent, particularly Ghana, this year to commemorate 400 years of when Africans were enslaved for the first time.

The concept turned out to be very appealing African-Americans and most Ghanaian in the diaspora, who trooped Ghana this year. Some of the popular Hollywood stars that visited Ghana this year and made headlines include, Steve Harvey, Boris Cudjoe among others.
